Three-Movement 17+ Minute Sonata

My original intention was to create a piece that would be used as a teaching vehicle and eventually performed by teacher and student and that’s why the idea of the beginning canonic theme in the first movement made so much sense to me at the time.

The first movement can stand alone as a performance piece by itself as I believe the second movement could as well.

The second movement is a very pronounced and stark contrast to the opening movement.

However, if all three movements are performed consecutively, then the final and last movement would truly exude its intended true expression of bringing to finality past thematic material and cap off this trilogy as it was meant to do.
